International HPV Awareness Day
Behind every cervical cancer statistic, there is a woman, a family, and a story. The vital news is that this disease is largely preventable.
Today, on HPV Awareness Day, I presented the paper “From Health Policies to Action in Screening,” a topic that underscores an essential truth:
Health policies only hold value when they are transformed into real actions for patients.
Organized screening, HPV vaccination, accurate information, and physician involvement are the pillars that can radically change the future of women’s health.
In this context, I am coordinating the “CLARA” project – Cervical Cancer Control through Equitable Access to Health Policies: Strengthening the Capacity of the National Screening Program. This initiative is conducted under the aegis of the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest (Code MySMIS 353063) and is co-funded by the ESF+ through the Health Program. Our goal is to translate public health strategies into concrete interventions for prevention and early detection.
In my capacity as President of the Romanian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology and coordinator of EndoMedicare Academy – Center of Excellence, I firmly believe our responsibility extends beyond the operating room:
It is about prevention, education, and building health programs that truly reach the patient.
Because screening is not just a public health strategy.
It is a chance to save lives.
