The Importance of HPV Screening and Vaccination
A Multidisciplinary Approach to Cervical Cancer: Prevention, Diagnosis, and Integrated Treatment
In a recent session moderated by Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă (EndoMedicare Academy, Bucharest, Romania) and Dr. Carmen Ungurean, experts in gynecologic oncology emphasized the importance of HPV screening and vaccination as essential pillars for cervical cancer prevention.
Collaboration between gynecologists, pathologists, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists is the key to accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment, with a focus on fertility preservation in early stages and integrated management for complex cases.
“Cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable, and screening and vaccination are acts of responsibility and solidarity,” stated Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă.
Through the digitalization of screening programs and community involvement, Romania can significantly reduce the incidence and mortality rates of this type of cancer.
